Week 10 Homeland Security

The problems I had with the hospital buffer zones were things that shouldn'tve been a problem. My buffer zones were behind another layer and it took me two hours to figure that out. After that, everything went pretty smooth.
Over the weekend I had so many problems with the internet that I didn't think I was going to be able to finish. I'm not sure if it's our internet connection on base or if it was the VM server.

Week 9 Homeland Security

When I got to this point, I was only getting 10 counties in my query. I could have selected the other county and just added and I almost did that. But I thought it might affect something later in the lesson so I started over from scratch and the next time through, there were 11 counties. I have no idea what I did wrong the first time or did different the second time. I hope these are right and I guess I'll know next week.

Crime

This map is showing the buffer rings. I had a hard time showing the rings to where they didn't overpower the rest of the map. After making them transparent, I think it is shows the crimes in the 2, 4, and 6 mile radious without being overpowering. The Clear Lake Station has the largest amount of crimes and is quite far from any other station. I think there is sufficient data to warrant another station in this area.

This is the base map showing the total number of crimes in Houston, Aug 2006.
